The Riverland mayor has just announced that ANZAC day will be cancelled in The Riverland, with no towns being allowed to hold an ANZAC day celebration. No reasoning has been given for the cancellation, and the mayor has been deliberately vague in the case of answering questions about it.
Head journalist Lance Charles managed to get an interview to gain some insight:
Lance Charles: “Good morning mayor, let’s get straight to it. Can you explain why you’ve called for the ban on ANZAC day celebrations?”
Mayor: “Yes.”
Lance Charles: “Go on then, please elaborate.”
Mayor: “No.”
It was at this point the mayor ended the interview.
The Riverlanderer will continue to investigate as the situation develops.
